Anthony Hernandez threw a complete-game six-hitter to lift the ninth-seeded Eagles (13-10) past the eighth-seeded Mustangs (11-8). Hernandez induced a game-ending 4-3 line drive double play with the bases loaded. Junior Fernandez went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run for Edison, who advances to face top-seeded Sayreville in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Coach Rotella reports the freshmen baseball program has concluded their 2012 season with a strong 12-3 record, 145 runs for and a meager 66 runs against. Rotella indicated his team's success was the result of the hard work put forward by his squad. Joe Stone hurled a complete-game three-hitter while leading the J.F. Kennedy High School baseball team to Tuesday’s 4-1 victory over Edison.
Zach Buchholz’s two-run single in the third erased a 1-0 deficit. Chad Barrall’s two-run double in the fourth produced the final margin.
Rob Borwegen singled and scored on a balk for the Eagles (11-10). Tom Farley went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Mustangs (11-7), who have won three straight.

Eric Jutton drew a bases-loaded walk with one out in the top of the seventh to score the go-ahead run for the Mustangs (10-7). Joe Stone hit a fourth-inning solo homer for Kennedy and Leo DaCosta scattered six hits over six innings for the win. Joe Manley went 2-for-3 with a sixth-inning solo home run to tie the game at 2 for the Raiders (10-9).

Jeff Htam went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI to power the Monroe High School baseball team to a 14-6 victory over J.F. Kennedy in six innings on Thursday. Richie Poland added to the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Falcons (10-6). Eric Giordano went 2-for-3 with a double for the Mustangs (8-7).
