Adonis Hernandez had a double, a triple and three RBI as Iselin Kennedy (8-17) upset Chatham (14-8) in the opening round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 tournament in Chatham. Kennedy's Zach Bucholz had a double and two RBI while A.J. Pichalski (3-8) had a double and scored twice in posting the victory. Chatham's Brian Ballard had three hits and two RBI with Matt Reader collecting two hits and driving in three runs. Kennedy will play at Somerville, a 4-1 winner over Colonia, in the quarterfinal round on Friday

Kyle Dotey and Chris Petiya each delivered a two-run single in a four-run fourth inning for 12th-seeded Middlesex (19-6) in the preliminary round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament at Diamond Nation in Flemington. Walter Byleckie singled and scored on a throwing error for Middlesex's last run in the sixth. Rob Johnson (7-0) pitched 5 1/3 innings to earn the victory with Anthony Keri recording the final five outs to earn the save. Zach Buchiolz was 2-for-2 with an RBI-double, a walk, and one run for Kennedy (7-17), seeded 21st, while Matt Deparis tripled home a run in the fourth. Middlesex will play at fifth-seeded Woodbridge in the only first-round game to be played tomorrow.

Zach Bucholz had a single, a triple and drove in three runs while Anthony Tortorello singled, doubled and scored twice for 21st-seeded Iselin Kennedy (7-16) in play-in round play in the GMC Tournament in Iselin. A.J. Pichalski (2-7) struck out 11 and walked two over six innings to post his first victory since April 7. Charles Thielmann was 4-for-4 for 26th-seeded Piscataway (1-19) with two singles, a double, a home run and two RBI, while Kenny Pine added a solo shot. Iselin Kennedy will travel to Middlesex tomorrow afternoon for a preliminary-round encounter.
